ARTIST BIO: "Born in Germany in 1955, I have always been interested in American culture. When I started painting at the age of 9, my first motifs were New York impressions and city views, performed as simple pencil drawings, inspired by a city guidebook. Later on I artisticly discovered other cities and the landscapes of the American West, applying watercolors, oil paintings, collages, tempera and ink drawings. Though self-taught, I decided to study at a German art and design college to perfectionize my skills. After travelling through Europe, the USA and Canada I also became interested in photography, building up a huge collection of photos, which also inspired me to new paintings. In the age of computers the creation of digital artworks became an important part of my work, with excursions to Pop Art, Fantasy Art and Surrealism. Beside some European artworks, however, the main theme of my art has always remained AMERICA in all its diversity. So, the American cityscapes, landscape paintings, color and vintage photographs are dominating my art gallery, which logically received the name "Art America Gallery", an online gallery offering about 500 artworks for sale as fine art prints, posters, canvas prints, framed art and more..."

450 Million Dollars For Art - I guess, anyone has heard of the following story:

"Leonardo’s Salvator Mundi makes auction history - The rediscovered masterpiece by the Renaissance master sells for an historic $450,312,500, obliterating the previous world record for the most expensive work of art at auction. Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale totals $785,942,250..." - see the whole story here: http://www.christies.com/features/Leonardo-and-Post-War-results-New-York-8729-1.aspx?sc_lang=en

My most expensive artwork (original painting) is on sale for $ 5000 - see it here: NEW YORK WALL STREET - of course my name is not Leonardo da Vinci...

What is your opinion about this and similar art prices - how should art be validated ?
